• Predictions of climate change relevant for impacts (Xuebin Zhang, Bruce Hewitson)
  • Human activities have changed the global climate and this change will continue for a foreseeable time into the future no matter what mitigation strategies may be taken. Adaptation to a changing climate is and will be necessary. The development of adaptation strategies requires projections of future climate. Our main source of information about future climate is GCM projections, however, available GCM simulations very often do not meet the adaptation needs. For example, scenarios of future climate may need to be at space and/or time resolutions much higher than available GCM simulations. The aim of this session is to explore some of the important issues related to downscale GCM future climate projections to meet impacts and adaptation needs.
