• Forecast Verification (Organisers: David Stephenson, Ian Jolliffe, U. of Exeter)
  • Forecast verification is an essential part of the forecasting process that requires careful statistical analysis of previous pairs of forecasts and observations. Research in this area has had a long and interesting history including being a key motivating element for the original IMSC meetings. Many interesting challenges still exist in forecast verification such as how best to evaluate climate predictions, probability forecasts, forecasts of extreme weather, etc.. This session welcomes contributions on all aspects of forecast verification that show either interesting methodological development or novel applications.

    Invited speakers

  • Chris Ferro (University of Exeter): Verifying forecasts of extreme weather events
  • Others to be decided based on submitted abstracts.
